THE MAYFLIES ARE BACK!

If you're visiting the area, and you wake up to see these critters...

DON'T FREAK OUT! They are harmless.  The bugs start off at the bottom of the lake for two years before they hatch. They fly inland at night toward light, mate, then die in about one day.  They are actually a sign that Lake Erie is healthy, and a Mother Nature's bird and fish food, but they are creepy looking...and they do stink if you let their carcasses lay around in the sun.  If you are really freaked out by them, turn off your outdoor lights at night.
